The start of nursery is a special moment – not only for your child, but also for you as a parent. At Elly & Stoffl, we understand how important this step is, and we place great emphasis on ensuring that the settling-in process is gentle and individualized. Our goal is to provide your child with a safe and positive start to this new phase of life – while also giving you peace of mind and the necessary security.
Why is the settling-in process so important to us?
For children, the transition to nursery is a big change. Suddenly, there are new spaces, new people, and new routines. This can be exciting, but also a little intimidating. We want your child to face this challenge at their own pace. At the same time, we understand that you, as parents, may have many questions and perhaps some concerns. It is very important to us that you feel just as comfortable with us as your child does.
For us, the settling-in process is not just a transition phase – it is the foundation for a trusting relationship between your child, you, and our educators. Together, we create an atmosphere where your child feels safe, secure, and valued.
A mindful start
– step by step
We base our settling-in process on the proven Berlin model, which allows for a gentle and individualized transition. Our top priority: your child sets the pace. Some children feel comfortable quickly, while others need a bit more time – both are perfectly fine.
Our settling-in process takes place in small, well-coordinated steps:
The First Days
The first few days are spent with your child in the group. This allows them to explore their new environment in the comfort of your presence.
First Goodbye
Once your child is ready, we will try a short separation – while keeping in close communication with you. You remain nearby, so your child knows that you can return at any time.
Gradual Extension of Time
The times your child spends independently in the group are gradually extended step by step. They get to know the daily routine better and settle into the new structures with confidence. Nap and meal times are also gently integrated into the daily schedule, ensuring that your child feels completely comfortable.
We plan the settling-in process flexibly so that it can be tailored to the needs of your child and your family. Your involvement as parents is crucial, as your presence provides your child with the security they need for this transition.

Parents and Educators – Working Together for Your Child
The settling-in process is also the beginning of a trusting partnership in the upbringing and education of your child. Your knowledge and experience as parents will provide us with a useful tool in getting to know your child better. Together, we will share information about your child’s habits, preferences, and needs to support their development in the best possible way.
It is important to us that you always feel welcome as parents. During the settling-in process, we will take the time to address your questions, thoughts, and any concerns you may have. Regular communication with you allows us to better tailor the settling-in process to your child’s needs. At the end of the settling-in period, we will have a meeting to discuss your child’s progress and agree on the next steps.
Our Philosophy:
Security Creates Trust
At Elly & Stoffl, we believe that security and trust are the foundation for successful learning and growth. That is why we place special emphasis on ensuring that your child feels comfortable during the settling-in period – and that you can say goodbye with peace of mind.
When children sense that their parents and educators are working hand in hand, they feel safe and secure. This sense of security allows them to explore the new environment with curiosity, make new friends, and joyfully discover new things.

Taking this special step together
The settling-in process is more than just the start of nursery – it is the beginning of a new chapter for your child and your family. We are here to accompany you and your child on this journey, with lots of patience, understanding, and care.
Let’s make this important step together. We look forward to welcoming you and your child and ensuring a smooth start to a wonderful nursery experience!
